عوامی سواری  کے مصائب

دنیا بھر میں لوگوں کو سفرکے ذرائع کے معاملے میں مشکل مواقع کا سامنا رہتا ہے۔ یورپ، امریکہ، جاپان، چین اور مشرق بعید کے ممالک نے عوام کے ذرائع سفر کو بہتر بنا ڈالا ہے۔میٹرو ٹرین یا میٹرو بس لوگوں کے لئے ذرائع سفرکی تمام تر ضروریات کا حتمی حل نہیں۔یورپ میں جدید ترین ٹرین سسٹم کے باوجود مختلف ضروریات کے لئے ٹیکسی کی گنجائش رہتی ہے۔


دنیا بھر میں بار بار سفر کے دوران مجھےٹرین، بس، ٹیکسی اور رینٹ اے کار کی خدمات حاصل کرنے کا تجربہ ہوا۔ گذشتہ سولہ سال کے دوران   چند سال قبل مجھے سب سے زیادہ اطمینان بخش اور آرام دہ سفر کا تجربہ پراگ میں Uber کی سفری سہولت  حاصل کرنے پر ہوا۔ Uber کی اپلی کیشن ڈاؤن لوڈ کرنےکے بعد میں نے جیسے ہی اپنے موبائل پر منزل مقصود درج کی تو جادو کا شائبہ ہونے لگا۔موبائل پر میری منزل مقصود کے لئے دستیاب ٹیکسیوں کے خاکے ابھرنے لگے  کہ دیئے گئے نقشے میں وہ کتنے فاصلے پر موجود ہیں۔اس اثنا میں Uber نے مجھ سے رابطہ کرکے اپنی گاڑی کے ماڈل  ،اس کے رنگ، ڈرائیور کے نام سے آگاہ کیا اور موبائل پر نقشے کی مدد سے واضح کیا کہ وہ کتنے منٹ میں پہنچ رہا ہے۔ چند منٹ میں دیکھتا ہوں کہ بتائی گئی تفصیل کے مطابق میرے سامنے موجود ہے۔ میں منزل کی تصدیق کے علاوہ کوئی بات کئے بغیر پیچھے کا دروازہ کھول کر اندر بیٹھ جاتا ہوں۔ منزل پر پہنچ کر کرایہ میرے کریڈٹ کارڈ سے از خود منہا ہو جاتا ہے۔ کوئی ٹِپ نہیں دینی پڑتی۔ کرایہ معمول کی ٹیکسی سے 30%کم ہوتا ہے۔مجھ سے ڈرائیور کے برتاؤ کے بارے موبائل فون پر اپنے تاثرات دینے کی درخواست کی گئی۔ یہ تاثرات ڈرائیور کی کارکردگی کا ریکارڈ رکھنے کے واسطے لئے جاتے ہیں۔ کوئی ڈرائیور منفی تاثرات کا متحمل نہیں ہو سکتا جو اس کا کاروبار تباہ کر سکتے ہیں۔ یہ تھا وہ تجربہ جو میں نے محفوظ، یقینی اور سب سے آرام دہ سفر سے حاصل کیا۔


پاکستان میں اسی طرح کے تاثرات اپنے مینجر سے کریم کے استعمال کے تجربے کے بعد سننے کو ملے ۔ اس کے بادشاہی احساس کا اندازہ  ہوا جب اس نے صاف ستھری  اور وائی فائی سہولت سے آراستہ کار پر سفر کا تجربہ مزے لےلے کر مجھے سنایا جس کا ڈرائیور  بھی بہت شائستہ تھا۔


ایک دن میٹنگ کے دوران شریک ساتھی کو ان کی بیگم کا فون آیا جو کہیں جانے کے لئے اسے پِک کرنے پر اصرار کررہی تھیں۔ نہائیت اہم میٹنگ میں شرکت کی وجہ سے دوست نے کریم کو فون کیا۔ میں سن رہا تھا جب وہ نہایت اطمینان اور آسانی کے ساتھ ان کی بیگم کو لینے کے لئے ٹیکسی والے کو کہہ رہے تھے۔ یہ سب چند منٹوں میں طے ہوگیا اور وہ بڑے سکون سے میٹنگ میں شریک رہے۔ ایک نجی کاروباری ایلن مسک کےاوبر جیسے زبردست تصوّر سے پہلے اس طرح کی دستیاب سفری سہولت سے ملنے والا اطمینان اور سکون دنیا کے امیر ترین ملکوں میں بھی نہیں ملتا تھا۔


اوبر کے آنے کے بعداس طرح کی جدید سفری سہولیات کے ساتھ کریم، دیدی اور کچھ دوسرے  لوگ بھی آگئے ہیں۔ ٹیکسی کی بر وقت  اور مناسب داموں دستیابی کے لئے بے یقینی، تفکرات اور عدم تحفظ کے مسائل کا  خاتمہ اوبر اور کریم کی معیاری سہولیات کی بدولت ہو گیا ہے۔


لیکن یہ ٹھہرا  پاکستان جہاں ٹرانسپورٹ مافیا اور افسر شاہی عوام کو ان آسائشوںسےلطف اندوز ہونے کی اجازت نہیں دیں گے۔ جنرل حمید گل کی بیٹی کی معیاری پنڈی اسلام آباد بس سروس کو ٹرانسپورٹ مافیا نے نا اہل سرکاری افسران کی مدد سے ناکام بنا دیا۔ نواز شریف کی ییلو کیب سیاسی شعبدہ ثابت ہوئی کیونکہ پیلی ٹیکسیوں کو صرف رنگ بدل کر نجی گاڑیوں میں بدل دیا گیا۔ ییلو کیب اس طرح غائب ہوئی ہیں جیسے وہ کبھی موجود ہی نہیں تھیں۔ اب اوبر اور کریم کی گاڑیوں کو  ضبط کرنا شروع کردیا گیا ہے۔عام آدمی بڑی حسرت سے اس سہولت کو رجسٹریشن، فٹنس ٹیسٹ اور ٹیکس معاملات کی آڑ میں دم توڑتے دیکھ رہا ہے۔ اوبر اور کریم کی مانندقابل بھروسہ، محفوظ، با کفائت اور معیاری سفری سہولت آج تک دیکھنے میں نہیں آئی۔


اوبر اور کریم کا فائدہ عام آدمی کے لئےبہترین سفری  سہولت کی شکل میں ہی نہیں بلکہ یہ ہزاروں لوگوں کو ملازمت فراہم کرکے اپنی گاڑیاں فارغ وقت میں  چلا کر پیسہ کمانے کا موقع فراہم کرتےہیں۔






Public Transport - The suffering of a common man from yellow cab to Varan to Uber & Careem.

Public transport had always been a big challenge & opportunity around the world. Europe, USA, Japan, China, Far eastern countries have successfully transformed their public transport. A metro train or metro bus service is not the only solution to meet the entire needs of public transport. Despite the most advanced train system in Europe, it leaves enough space for Taxis to avail dedicated transport under various needs.


Being a frequent global traveller I have my experience of using Train, bus, Taxi, rent a car Services during my travel. Most satisfying and comfortable experience of using public transport in my last 16 years of travelling was using Uber in Prague a few years ago. I downloaded Uber application in a few minutes and opened the application to type my destination and what followed was a magic, I was watching animated images of available taxis on my phone screen with indication of number of miles they are away and exact location on map, at this moment, one of them picks my destination and I am informed about the car make, its colour, driver name and number of minutes it would be arriving with actual movement of Taxi on the digital map on the screen of my mobile. In a few minutes, I see the taxi according to description already informed, I opened the back door and sit inside without any conversation except to reconfirm my destination, I reached my destination and amount is already deducted from credit card. There is no TIP. Taxi fare is 30 % less than actual. I am asked on my mobile to write review about driver. The review is maintained about each driver’s service performance as a history. No driver can afford to have a bad review as it will kill his business. This was the safest, predictable, most convenient, most economical transport experience I ever had.


Back in Pakistan, I heard the similar sentiments from my manager when he mentioned his experience on a Careem Taxi service. He was feeling like a king after that experience and excitedly told me about neat n clean car, courteous driver, wifi service and most economical fare.


One day in a meeting with a colleague, he had to pick up call from his wife, his wife asking him to pick her up, being in an important meeting it was not possible for him to go and pick her up. He just called Careem. I heard my friend calling Careem and setting pick up arrangement for his wife with complete confidence and ease. It was all done in a few minutes and he was now relaxed to continue his meeting.


This kind of relief, satisfaction and availability of transport could never be possible even in the richest country until Uber, a private entrepreneur Elon Musk, brought this innovative concept.


Uber was followed up by many similar digital services like Careem, Didi and others.


Our suffering of uncertainty, apprehensions, insecurity to find a taxi at the right time, with right price, with quality of service was ended with Uber and Careem.


But ” This is Pakistan” where transport mafia and bureaucratic hurdles never allowed any such relief to public. ” Varan” launched by daughter of Hamid Gul was a quality service in Pindi-Islamabad but was failed by transport mafia with the help of incompetent and corrupt Govt officials. Yellow Cab by Nawaz Sharif only proved a political stunt as all yellow cabs turned into private cars just by painting them. In the end, yellow cab disappeared like it never happened. Today, cars run under Uber and Careem are being confiscated. Common man helplessly watching end of a great service under the justification of registration, fitness test, tax issues. There can never be a more reliable, safe, economical, quality transport service like Uber or Careem.


The benefit of Uber and Careem is not just about a great transport facility for common man but it has created great employment opportunities for thousands of those who can now earn extra by using their cars as a taxi in spare time.
